An Incomplete List Of The Disqualifications Of Donald Trump

As the title suggests, this is a not quite exhaustive list of the reasons why a rational, thinking adult would never consider voting for a showman and a fraud like Donald Trump.

  • He thinks that not paying income tax equates to being 'smart'. (Presidential Debate, September 26, 2016)
    • He will not release his tax returns, citing an ongoing IRS audit.  The IRS has indicated this is not a valid reason to withhold his returns from public release, but it neither confirms, nor denies, that Trump is currently undergoing an audit.
    • He lost over $900,000,000.00 in 1995. During an economic boom. Because of our current tax laws, he would be allowed to carry this loss forward for up to 18 years. (Donald Trump Tax Records Show He Could Have Avoided Taxes for Nearly Two Decades, Oct 1, 2016.)
  • He holds racist and xenophobic beliefs.
    • He has contempt for Mexicans, Mexican-Americans ("When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." June 2015)
    • He has indicated he would like to ban all Muslims from traveling or immigrating to the United States ("Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on." Press Release from Trump campaign, December 2015)
    • Called black casino workers 'lazy': "And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control."
    • Has not disavowed or renounced endorsements by multiple white supremacists, including David Duke, members of the KKK and white supremacist websites.
    • He denies this, of course: "I have a great relationship with the blacks. I've always had a great relationship with the blacks.” (April 2011)
  • He is a misogynist.
    • "You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass.", interview Esquire, 1991
    • "[Arianna Huffington] is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man - he made a good decision.", tweet August 28, 2012.  Also, a followup tweet: "Because she is a dog who wrongfully comments on me"
    • "Must be a pretty picture, you dropping to your knees." To contestant Brande Roderick on The Apprentice, 2013.
    • "Can you imagine the parents of Kelli ... when she said, 'Mom, Dad, I just fell in love with a big, fat pig named Rosie'? Can you imagine the expression on their face?" (in reference to Kelli O'Donnell, Rosie O'Donnell's wife).
    • "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?" Republican primary debate, referring to Carly Fiorina.
  • Doesn't understand the US Constitution:
  • Doesn't understand or appreciate the Geneva Conventions:
    • Advocates targeting of civilians. "But we're fighting a very politically correct war. And the other thing is with the terrorists. You have to take out their families. When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families. They care about their lives. Don't kid yourself. But they say they don't care about their lives. You have to take out their families," interview on Fox & Friends, December 2015.
    • "The problem is we have the Geneva Conventions, all sorts of rules and regulations, so the soldiers are afraid to fight." March 2016.
    • "I think everything’s is out of date. We have a whole new world." When asked if he though the Geneva Conventions were 'out of date', June 2016.
  • Doesn't understand the military:
    • "There’s nobody bigger or better at the military than I am." Interview, Bill O'Reilly.
    • On John McCain: "He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured."  July 2015
    • If he orders the military to perform illegal action: "They're not going to refuse me. Believe me.”
  • Stoked the fires that Barack Obama is not a US citizen.
    • Believes the sitting President is a secret Muslim, who may or may not have been born in the United States. "[T]here is something on that birth certificate — maybe religion, maybe it says he's a Muslim, I don't know. Maybe he doesn't want that. Or, he may not have one." Interview, The Laura Ingraham Show, March 2011.
  • Is, in fact, not really so good at business as he would have you believe.
    • Four bankruptcies in less than 25 years, totaling over 3 billion in losses across four companies. Many other Trump-related companies have failed, such as Trump Airlines, Trump Steaks, Trump Mortgage and Trump University - the for-profit university that is currently the subject of two class action lawsuits in California, and a third in New York.
    • Trump himself is facing a civil trial for fraud and racketeering under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”) for his role in Trump University. He has implied that the judge in this case cannot be partial because of his heritage: “The judge, who happens to be, we believe, Mexican, which is great, I think that’s fine. You know what? I think the Mexicans are going to end up loving Donald Trump when I give all these jobs, OK?” and “I’m building a wall. It’s an inherent conflict of interest."
