New York Times responds to Trump's threat of libel suit

David McCraw, vice president and assistant general counsel of The New York Times, has sent Donald Trump's attorneys a letter declining to retract a story the paper ran on October 12 (Two Women Say Donald Trump Touched Them Inappropriately).  

Donald Trump is on record as wanting to restrict the First Amendment protections granted to the press, and has a history of threatening to sue newspapers who report stories he doesn't like. While he regularly has his attorneys fire off threatening letters to news organizations, records show that he rarely, if ever, follows through with the threat.
